CAM and CAM-ICU
Confusion Assessment Method. Delirium is a common feature of critical illness and can manifest in hypo-active or hyper-active forms. CAM-ICU has been shown to be useful in screening for delirium in ventilated patients who cannot verbalise. In the Follow-Up setting either the more formal CAM - also known as mini-mental state and serial 7’s – or CAM-ICU may detect delirium.
